Job Title: Assistant Director or Office Manager for Arts East-West/Korean Film Festival

 

About Us: Arts East-West is an international non-profit artist-driven organization based in Montreal, QC, Canada. Marking this year its 10th edition of the Korean Film Festival Canada (KFFC) is one of the core projects under the motto “Where East meets West” since its inception in 1996. KFFC empowers Asian and Asian diasporic arts through film screenings, art exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and publications. We advocate for creative projects through artistic and cultural exchanges, particularly between Korea and Canada, while encouraging the next generation of storytellers in Asian communities across Canada and beyond.

 

Salary: 20-25$/hour (depending on the candidate's experience in the field)

Schedule: 30-35 hours/week, Monday-Friday

Location: Mile-End, Montreal, QC

Starting date: February 28, 2023 (6 months with possibility of renewables).

*The candidate must be eligible for the “Emploi Quebec’s Subvention Salariale” program and they must submit a letter of eligibility to be admissible. After the first 6 months, a contract renewal will be discussed based on the individual’s performance. Please contact us for more details if needed.

 

Job Summary:

The Korean Film Festival Canada (KFFC)/Arts East-West is looking for an Assistant Director/Office Manager whose task  will manage and coordinate daily operation of our projects by assisting our Executive Director.  KFFC is an artist-driven and international organisation focusing on pan-Asian arts that runs projects and activities year-round. We seek a candidate who is a punctual and results-oriented professional to manage our daily operations and staff job coordination at the office. This is a full-time employment opportunity that reports to the Board of Directors.
 

Duties and abilities that are included, but are not limited to:

  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills in English and French - Drafting and managing various grant and funding applications in English or French
  • Managing weekly schedules and coordinating our staff tasks.
  • Preparing our organisation’s projects
  • Strong knowledge of the GSuite Platform
  • Managing the KFFC website
  • Provide regular reports to our organisation's board of directors
  • Management of budget and expenses reports
  • Assess problematic situations/developments and resolve them
  • Ensure that all deadlines and work plans are respected, or altered as necessary, after consultation with our organisation's director

*These tasks will be conducted under the supervision of the Artistic Director.

 

Requirements:

*Strong writing skills in English, preferably native in English

*Strong organizational skills

  • A minimum of an 1 year  experience at a non-profit cultural or art organization or similar institutions
  • Basic knowledge of East Asian culture, media and visual arts
  • A familiarity with Quebec arts and culture sector
  • Experience in writing proposals, event planning, grants, contracts and reports
  • Experience in Arts administration
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and a basic website platform (Strapii backend) will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Korean culture and language (spoken and/or written) will be considered an asset
  • An understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusions of all individuals in Canada
